
In August 2016, prolonged rain caused major flooding throughout a large part of the state of Louisiana. Thousands of homes and businesses were submerged and destroyed. Louisiana governor, John Bel Edwards, declared a state of emergency and described the disaster as, “a historic, unprecedented flooding event.”
