No Challenge Too Great For Tennessee Spray Foam Roofing Company
MURFREESBORO, TN - July 7 - From the beginning, Monolithic Systems LLC has proven no challenge is too great or job too big or small.
The Tennessee-based company that specializes in commercial and industrial roofing, insulation and protective coatings, as well as tanks, has seen its fair share of interesting jobs since owners James Ketron and Bob King started the business in January 2006 but they and their five employees have handled them all.
Prior to investing in their powerful Graco H-40 Hydraulic spray foam roofing rig, Monolithic Systems used a Graco E20 electric sprayer for many jobs.
“Everybody told us the electric E-20 would never work but we used it effectively,” Ketron said. “Work was much slower but it made us very cautious about what we were doing and we also sprayed polyurea with it on metal roofs with great success.”
Monolithic’s crew was experienced enough in the mechanics and the processing to assure both the foam and the coatings they applied were well applied and on-spec. Now with their high performance and high output H-40 proportioner, the jobs are much easier and faster.
Monolithic Systems, located in Murfreesboro in Central Tennessee, serves not only the state of Tennessee but also the whole southeastern region of the United States and has taken jobs as far away as Louisiana and Connecticut.
“Even if we do a job in Tennessee, we could be two hours away,” Ketron said. “If you’re 10 hours away, the only difference is you’re driving further to get there to do a project. The hotel’s a hotel.”
The job in Connecticut proved to be especially trying thanks to the unlikeliest of weather patterns that passed through the area right when they got there.
“The first time we went up to Connecticut it was last year and it was the first time they’d ever had a tropical storm,” Ketron said. “We arrived there the day the tropical storm hit Connecticut and we were stuck in the hotel room for three days before we could even do any work. We were expecting to be there for three days and ended up being there for six or seven.”
Monolithic Systems has completed jobs as big as 110,000 square feet for a food processing plant, though it’s smallest job was one of the most challenging.
Ketron’s crew took on a 6-by-20 foot room that held computer servers in the middle of a busy office building for an IT company. Generally they’re outdoors on a roof with no one around but in this case, they had to take extra steps to assure the building’s occupants and the expensive computer / IT equipment was not harmed.
They adjusted their schedule to arrive very early in the morning to conduct the spray and prep work at a time when the occupants would not be exposed. They even took precautions to wrap the spray hoses, which were 200 feet into the building, with a protective covering to protect the floors and equipment from any potential leaks or spills.
“What was hard was keeping everything confined, and properly ventilated during the application,” Ketron said. “It was very slow going, very touchy. We had to watch our P’s and Q’s doing construction inside of a building with very expensive IT services.”
The most important thing for Ketron and Monolithic Systems LLC is to run and maintain a successful business so even when issues arise, they have a plan to get the job done with the utmost quality.
