Using foam for "airsealing" details in commercial projects
Am seeing alot of specs coming out where Architect is only using spray foam as "airsealing" component of building envelope;flutes of metal decking @ wall junctures, parapet walls from roof deck up, etc. Much of this work is driven by LEED requirements. Details spread out all over the projects that require multiple jobsite visits - can be a real pain in the arse.
Without schedule info and clear understanding by GC and Architect as to how foam works and how it can or cannot be installed, these jobs can turn out to be a nightmare. Coordination with other trades can be a killer. Any thoughts on how foam applicators are approaching these projects short of not bidding them at all.
