Thermal Barrier Update?
Hey Mason,
I just got an email stating that .016 inch steel qualifies as a thermal barrier...and "3/8 gypsum"....and 1/4 inch hardboard????
I thought it had to be 1/2 inch drywall or 3/4 inch plywood.
I would appreciate your feedback very much.

No,the code hasn't changed. Those materials are listed in the building codes as acceptable ignition barriers in crawl spaces and attics, not thermal barriers for the inhabited areas of the building.
