spray foam on exterior
How does spray foam perform on the exterior of a building? I am working on a commerical building and we are looking at increasing the R value by installing spray foam on the exterior of the sheathing instead of installing batt insulation between the studs. The skin of the building will have 1.5" of stone and a 2" air space to the spray foam.

I am guessing that the spray foam will perform fine because rigid insulation is commonly installed in this type of application.

Let me know if I am way off base.

Thanks

Never done it but have read lots about this application and it's success. If I were building a building and doing drivit or any other exterior finish that needed a base insulation board, I'd foam it and finish it.

Closed cell will perform fantastic in this application, even better than spraying it between the studs. You will have minimal thermal bridging and a true monolithic wall of foam.

It is a home-run application. Very efficient!
