Went to a job today where another contractor had installed Elastospray 800a whis is a 2.8lb roofing foam that is recommended to be applied at a max of 2". This guy had installed what appeared to be 3" on the under side of a lean-to. What issues can arise from this? Weird part is that guy doesn't even do SPF roofing but is spraying it interior?
mason Posted: Dec 24, 2010 10:19 AM	I don't see any performance issues with using the foam. It will have greater structural strength. The R value would be similar to a 2 lb density closed cell foam. So long as it has a 75 flame spread and 450 or less smoke developed rating it is OK to use in interior applications. But, they would only have about 2500 board ft coverage instead of 4500 board foot coverage. Most foam is tested at 4 inches for E 84 flame spread and smoke testing and the building codes require that you only install the amount tested. So, if they only tested at 2 inches, there could be a code issue.
