These classes are required by SPFA to be a fully accredited SPF roofing applicator. Completing these courses will provide required courses to become SPFA Accredited as follows:

  • Roofing Accredited Applicator: Required Courses: 101, 101-R, R-1, Equipment and Materials (plus 3 inspections)

Instructors: Mason Knowles & Jim Andersen

 

Mason Knowles is one of the leading Spray Foam Consultants in the industry and was the former Executive Director and Technical Director for the SPFA. He has more than 40 years of hands on experience in the spray foam industry as a contractor, material manufacturer, equipment manufacturer and trade association professional. He is chairman of ASTM’s Subcommittee on SPF Roofing and of ASTM C-1029, the specification for closed cell SPF and a SPFA accredited building envelope and roofing inspector.

Jim Andersen is BASF’s Manager of Applications and Training. With more than 35 years of industry experience as a contractor, distributor and currently a manufacturer of materials, Jim Andersen is considered a leading expert on spray-applied polyurethane foam materials and applications in North America. As Manager of Applications and Training for BASF, Jim is active in the National Roofing Contractors Association. He has also participated on projects with the National Roofing Foundation. Jim has served on many committees of the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance, which honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000. Jim teaches Roofing, Foam Mechanics and Materials and Insulation classes at the TTC.

Jim and Mason have extensive experience in installing SPF to a variety of projects, preparing specifications, providing inspections, code development and promulgating research of the performance of SPF systems. They have personally trained hundreds of persons in the art of spraying foam and inspecting SPF roofing systems and will provide helpful tips on foam application, controlling job quality and project efficiency.

SPFA will award Certificates of Completion upon successful completion of the courses.
