Polyurea Goes Nuclear

Polyurea Goes Nuclear

Austin, Texas - January 4, 2011 -- On January 18 – 19, 2011 The National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) one-day nuclear coatings symposium will be held in conjunction with the annual meetings for ASTM International's nuclear coatings committees and the Nuclear Utility Coatings Council (NUCC).  This symposium will be held at the Doubletree Resort Orlando, Florida.

The nuclear industry is experiencing a period of rebirth where high-performance coatings have become an increased area of focus. Both industry and regulatory authorities have recognized the importance of maintaining the robustness of safety-related coatings in the restrictive and safety-critical nuclear power plant environment and, as a result, new technologies and updated standards have been developed to improve coatings work in nuclear power plants.

In the New Coatings Technology session, Dudley J Primeaux II of Primeaux Associates LLC will present information on the use of the polyurea technology in nuclear facility in various application areas.  The polyurea spray technology was first successfully utilized in nuclear facility work back in 1995.  This session will also include information from Dwayne Meyer of Carboline, Charles Wallace of GPI, Jim Weber of Xiom and Robert Johnson of The Sherwin-Williams Company.

Given the specialized nature of coatings in nuclear power plants, this exclusive symposium will bring together industry personnel and coatings professionals to update the attendees on relevant topics in the area of protective coatings for nuclear power plant facilities.
