Cellulose Manufacturing Company Aims To Shine New Light On Injection Foam

WEBBERVILLE, MI – November 17, 2011 – A trusted name for over 30 years, Applegate Insulation is the largest privately owned cellulose insulation manufacturer in the world with seven plants in the United States and serving over 21 countries. The company recently expanded their business in three areas.

Applegate R Foam

Applegate’s founder, Aaron Applegate has recently partnered with Rob Heuer, who understood that non-expanding, injection foam is a great product, but the use of improper installation equipment was giving it a bad reputation. Applegate and Heuer decided to change that.

“Without the proper monitoring equipment, contractors often run the risk of creating off-ratio foam, which leads to poor foam quality,” Heuer stated.

Applegate R Foam, located in Hamilton, Mich., is the result. The research and development of their team has created the most advanced equipment in the injection foam business. Each trailer is custom-built according to the contractors needs, and ensures the proper ratio of the product. Applegate R Foam, however, goes far beyond building superior equipment.

Becoming an Applegate R Foam customer means using the highest quality non-expanding, injection foam in the market today. Applegate’s R-Foam is designed for use in existing homes, whether they have no insulation or the wall cavity is partially filled with old, ineffective insulation. R-Foam does what other insulations cannot, flowing through empty space and across old materials to completely fill the wall cavity. Applegate’s C-Foam is designed for insulating concrete masonry unit walls (CMU). This product allows buildings to be completed faster than competitors by using high-speed installation technology and by reducing problems on the job site compared to expanding foams. The features of C-Foam allow CMU finishing work, such as painting, to be done earlier, saving money and time.

Mr. Insulate Cotton Armor™

Mr. Insulate Cotton Armor™, Applegate’s newly-developed insulation is made from thermal cotton denim insulation and contains at least 85% recycled content. Applegate’s Cotton Armor™ is the environmentally preferred choice over fiberglass. It is easy to install, simply tear by hand or cut it with a utility knife. The company claims there will be an elimination of air infiltration, noise pollution, health warnings, irritants or harmful chemicals and flammable components. Applegate claimes that Cotton Armor™ provides peace and tranquility with its custom press fit, eliminating acoustical shortcuts that are typical of less ridged batt insulations, such as fiberglass. The company also claims that Mr. Insulate Cotton Armor™ is the unbeatable choice for anyone searching for a high-quality green building material.

Graco E-8p Spray Polyurethane Foam Reactor

Applegate R Foam is now a distributor of the new Graco E-8p Spray Polyurethane Foam Reactor.

“The E-8p Reactor fills a niche that is more consistent than a low-pressure canister system,” Heuer said. “The E-8p is a proportioning pump system using room temperature foam that produces quality foam. It also uses high-pressure equipment to get more atomization out of the foam.”

A portable machine weighing less than 100 pounds, the E-8p is small enough to cut minimal set-up charges and is a fantastic addition to small or large contracting companies that need to apply foam in crawl spaces, attics, knee walls and for hybrid wall systems.

“We’ve got a lot of guys that have large equipment, but this Reactor can be added to lower the amount of equipment people need to bring,” Heuer said. “From beginners to experienced, the Reactor is a great filler to fix issues that contractors will be able to bring along to handle any small job,”
