New ICC-ES Approval Confirms Compliance of CertainTeed’s Full CertaSpray™ Spray Foam Insulation Product Line
The only closed-cell foam insulation in the U.S. with ICC-ES and GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools program certification.
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – On the heels of certification for its open-cell formula, CertainTeed Corporation is proud to announce that its CertaSpray™ closed-cell polyurethane spray foam insulation has been approved by the ICC Evaluation Service, Inc. (ICC-ES). The approval makes CertaSpray the only closed-cell foam insulation offered in the U.S. that is both approved by the ICC-ES and certified through the GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD Children & Schools program, says CertainTeed.
CertaSpray open- and closed-cell foam insulation products are blown into wall cavities, attics and floors and expand to create excellent thermal efficiency that modern housing demands. In general, CertaSpray closed-cell foam insulation provides a high-performance R-value and an air barrier that cures into a hard, rigid material that can add structural integrity to walls. The open-cell foam insulation results in a spongy, flexible consistency.
“With ICC-ES approval for CertaSpray closed-cell insulation, CertainTeed has strengthened its position as the building industry’s most comprehensive line of insulation products, allowing building professionals to customize solutions for their customers,” says Shawn Beears, Marketing Manager for CertainTeed Insulation. “And, CertaSpray is backed by comprehensive training and technical support from CertainTeed, ensuring that every installation achieves maximum results.”
Through an analysis of CertaSpray, including testing, calculations, and quality control methods, the ICC-ES evaluation report provides third-party verification to architects, contractors, specifiers and building officials that the product meets the 2006 International Building Code®, the 2006 International Residential Code®, and the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code®. The comprehensive evaluation report, ESR-2669, will be available shortly at icc-es.org.
In addition to CertaSpray, CertainTeed offers a complete line of insulation products, including time-tested and trusted fiberglass batts, rolls and blow-in insulation, innovative vapor retarder technology, as well as highly regarded HVAC products. All of CertainTeed’s insulation products can help building professionals qualify toward credits for The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Green Building Program. Homeowners can also qualify for federal tax credits through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 on energy efficiency improvements made to their home.
As part of the International Code Council, the ICC-ES is a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention that develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes developed by the International Code Council. For more information, visit www.icc-es.org.
